Let me start by saying I love my wedding dress (some days).  I go try it on, feels snug.   I go back LOVE IT.   Then final fitting with full on dress rehearsal, veil, shoes, bustle up… HATED IT.   I think I am going to have to sneak in another try on for my bridesmaids when I get to North Carolina.

It’s really crazy because I absolutely love my dress.   Even when I’m not feeling it 100% on me, I still love it.   On my wedding day, I know I will love it and feel grogeous.   Because when I tried it on I just knew.   Also did I mention that it feels like it weighs 100# when I’m carrying it.  Good thing it doesn’t feel like that when it’s on :)

Advice for buying a wedding dress.

1) don’t let someone else make the final decision
2) go with your gut, you just know when it is THE ONE!
3) accessorize… I was not going to do a veil, but then I put it on an VIOLA, it was like I was transformed into a Princess
4) find the perfect shoes, even if you have to buy and return 10+ pairs
Speaking from experience it was worth it and I a

Haven’t posted in a while, probably because I have gone bannanas.   I thought everything was done, then all of a sudden things started unraveling.

1) Decided to go with artificial flowers instead of live.  I don’t think they will end up being cheaper than buying live ones in bulk, but I will not have to worry about storage.  I am using real touch calla lillies, and I have been pleased with how they look so far.

2) Thought I had a videographer… they have gone MIA

3)  Forgot to add my fiance and myself to the number for dinner.  That is a big ol DUH!

4) Return shoes that were too big, and had ordered same ones online.   They haven’t showed up yet

Good news:

I can still add to my guest list… yeah.   Also, just found out my shoes will be in today!  This is great since my final fitting is tomorrow.   I also found a great place to get the flowers I wanted.  www.flowers-by-design.com  Plus I have a buddy who does resale, so since I was ordering in large quantity they were able to get me the wholesale pricing.

Oh and since this past weekend was labor day, got to the beach for a little sun :)   All and all I have decided everything will work itself out.

Well on my way to happy nuptial bliss.   I must say that I dipped enough cookies in the milk, and now I’m through dipping my cookies.   I know what kind I like now.

So, I’m in the process of finalizing the guest list.  We had estimated 80 guest, but invited over 100.  I never knew how hard it was to get an answer about attending an event…even a wedding.   We are currently at 82 and the verdict is still out on about 10 people.   I feel like Santa Clause, making a list, checking it twice… shoot thrice:)  We are doing our wedding on a boat, so each guest is issued a ticket.  So, far I don’t think we’ve forgotten anyone.

If you are ever in the Durham area, check out my buddies place.   This has some very unique pizza’s that you would only find in the south, like chicken liver pizza.  Plus with the outside dining area, you can’t beat it in the summer time.  This is a converted garage that has a great urban feel.   The bar is made of all concrete.  Not to mention the staff is awesom, and I hear they are starting to have some live music on Friday nights :) Woo hoo

As my brother use to say to me, I’m not drinking anymore.   I’m just not drinking any less…still only a 5th of Vodka.  I mean if you cut out all the sugary mixers … that’s got to help right :)

Had a great weekend.  Went to the Del Mar racetracks on Friday…did a little betting on ponies.   Had a few winners.  All and all great time by all.  Plus had the best seats ever right at the finish line.  If you ever get to go to the tracks and get box seats do it.   Whole new experience.

Then on Sat, my girls took me out on a great brewery tour of San Diego.  Our driver was very cool, as we were very LOUD.  Check out their site:  http://www.brewerytoursofsandiego.com/  We visited Stone Brewer, Lost Abbey/Port Brewery (where I bottled & labeled my own beer), and Alesmith.  Lost Abbey was my favorite.  The beer was great and everyone that worked there was awesome.   They took photos, and we even picked up an extra person for the last brewery.  We had to return him though :(   Also, they have a live feed at the bar… pretty cool.

Finished up Sat. night at Capt Keno’sone of my favorite local spots in Encinitas.  I love the red patent leather booths.  Cheap food and a great atmosphere…there is a bar too :)   Cash only though.   I just hope I will be able to fit in my dress with all that beer drinking.

Work less and make more.

It’s not about how long you work in a day, it’s about getting the most out the time you do work.   Life is to short to work all the time and have no time to PLAY.  Find your talent or passion …find others that see value in it and sell yourself(not your time).  Remember you’re not cheap ;)

Well I have decided to write about my final month before my wedding.  I was engaged on June 05, 2009.   Promtly 30 days later July 5th ordered my wedding dress from David’s Bridal.  I knew it might take ten weeks for it to come in.  I went in found the dress of my dreams.  I know it sounds cliche but when you put your dress on you just know.   I felt like such a princess.  I had a great experience, my consultant Lisa rocked!

Now it’s Aug. 14th, and I have not got my dresss yet.  Scratch that I have not got my replacement dress yet.   I went in for my fitting about 7/30/09.   I had the worst experience.  First, the initial greeting picking up my dress was not impressive.  When I called they had directed me to set up an alteration appointment.  They didn’t tell me you need to pick up your dress then bring it back to alterations.  Regardless when I gave them my name and said my dress was in the store.   I thought they would figure it out.  RUDENESS.   Finally got the dress, after I thought I was going to have to come back… the way they said it was still in the storeroom since it hadn’t been picked up.   Then came the lady for alterations .

I was super excited to try on all of my pieces, and pick out my favorite shoes.  I wanted to try on several shoes I had.. she got in a tizzy.   I asked if I could video her lacing up the dress, the consultant said you wanted to make sure it was done properly.  She stated flatly it was like shoestrings.. all good.  Regardless, I wanted to video it because all of my wedding party is out of state.  Then she started pinning up the bustle immediately.   It looked a little different than I wanted.  Mentioned that and it was ignored.   As I said I had several shoes I wanted to try on.  She sat right next to me, mentioning I needed to make a decision so she could pin the hem.  I finally got fed up and said I wanted a few minutes.    I was not going to pick my shoes because she wanted to hurry up.   Then I flatly mentioned I might not even get the alterations done there.  She left me alone finally.   By that time I was in a funk.   I had a horrible time.  On top of this the bra she wanted me to purchase was not fitting properly, and she starts bringing me more sizes.  Which are smaller than I wear.   Then to top it off, packing up to leave.   I was going to decide on shoes and come back.   Then I see a run in my dress, which was new and ordered for me.

Which brings me to here.   I spoke to a manager and they re-ordered my dress.  Luckily they kept my other one in the store, just in case.   Now I’m down to 4 weeks before the wedding.  They have assured me that I will be able to get my alterations done on time.   As it stands we will see.   I know this time, I will be running the session for my alterations.  I’ve decided it’s time for me to take the bull by the hornes so to speak.  Waiting on a call back now regarding the delivery of the new dress.  I think they try to scare you into purchasing with the long estimated delivery dates.  As it goes my dress is scheduled to be delivered Sept. 9.   I will say my last one came in about 3 weeks.  Cross your fingers for me.

NOT GONNA STRESS :)

Ok, it’s been a long and bumpy ride.   Finally I can say that I enjoy eating cottage cheese.  Just today I found a new way to enjoy it.  It is very refreshing and really reminds me of summer.  Take your cottage cheese (recommended brand knudsen), slice up some cumcumber, and add a little salt and peppa :)    Umm yummy

Also, if I haven’t mentioned it.  It is great with pineapple.  This even helps with a sweet tooth.  Fresh pineapple is better for you than canned!
